The Value of Custom Search

One very popular way of monetizing your website is by using Google search throughout your website.  By using Google Adsense for searching on your website, Google will actually host your search index for you.  Whenever a user searches on your sites, Google will deliver them indexed results along with Adsense ads.

There’s not doubt that this will provide immediate profit for you but if you run a custom search you will certainly gain even more long-term value.

By establishing a custom search structure you will gain valuable internal search data that you can take and use to bid on Adwords keywords.  By seeing what people are searching for on your site you can then target these terms to drive relevant traffic to your site and provide them with what they’re looking for rather than sending them somewhere else for it.

Follow the money, there is a reason that advertisers pay for PPC ads, if you are getting $1 or $2 for a click, they are making much more than that on the back end and so can you!
